Take responsibility.

The buck stops with the leader of the team. If one of my team members fails, it's at the very least PARTLY my fault. It's my job to support them, train them properly, evaluate the results of their projects, and make sure they have the tools they need. It's also my job to make sure to defend them when necessary.
